Iphone 3GS goes on sale June 19

Well the much anticipated announcement of the next Iphone took place today (June 8, 2009) at Apple's WWDC and it turns out that many of the rumors were true. On top of that, the phone should be coming out June 19th.

    Details are as follows:
  • Model name is IPhone 3G S
  • Comes in 16GB and 32GB configurations
  • Has a built in compass so it can orient maps in the direction you are heading.
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus
  • Video recording at up to VGA(640x480) at 30 frames a second
  • Can set camera focus point by touching an area on the preview screen before taking picture
  • Voice Control
  • Phone can be remote wiped to keep data secure in the event it is lost or stolen.
  • Better estimated battery life versus previous iphones:
    • 9hrs on WiFi
    • 10hrs video playback
    • 30hrs of audio playback
    • 12hrs 2G network talk time
    • 5hrs 3G network talk time
  • 16GB models will cost $199 on 2 year ATT contract
  • 32GB models will cost $299 on 2 year ATT contract
  • Current Iphone 3G at 8GB is $99 with 2 year contract effective today
